The Party leader made the call during a reception for Belgian King Philippe in Ha Noi on April 1.

To praised the role of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde in Belgium's socio-political life, particularly in maintaining unity in diversity.

The Party leader expressed gratitude for the strong support of the Belgian people for Viet Nam during its struggle for national independence and acknowledged the personal contributions of the Belgian royal couple to Viet Nam and bilateral relations.

To suggested that the two countries continue to deepen cooperation in trade and investment, sustainable agriculture, high-quality human resource training, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

The host leader also called for stronger collaboration in science, technology, and innovation, particularly Belgium's sharing of business development models to help Viet Nam achieve its development goals for 2030 and 2045.

In response, King Philippe highlighted the geographical similarities between the two nations, noting that Belgium is positioned at the center of Europe while Viet Nam lies at the heart of Southeast Asia.

He took the occasion to call for stronger cooperation so that both countries can serve as gateways in their respective regions.

"The two countries should continue close collaboration to address global challenges such as climate change and environmental issues," Philippe added.

The two sides agreed to increase high-level exchanges and engagements, enhance the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and expand collaboration in key areas such as education and training, defense, security, renewable energy—particularly wind turbine technology—green hydrogen, health care, and environmental protection.

Both sides also agreed to cooperate in overcoming the consequences of Agent Orange/dioxin, an area where Belgium has strong expertise./.
