Australia to provide AUD 2 million to help Viet Nam respond to climate change
VGP - The Aus4Innovation Program has announced the fifth round of its Innovation Partnership Grants worth AUD 2 million (US$1.28 million) in financial support for innovation cooperation in agriculture between Viet Nam and Australia.
Under the theme "High-Tech Innovation to Address Climate Change Challenges in the Agriculture Sector for Inclusive Development", this round places strong emphasis on harnessing technology to combat climate change impacts within the agricultural sector.
This focus is closely aligned with the broader objective of the Aus4Innovation Program: to support the inclusive and sustainable development of Viet Nam's innovation system.
The grants will provide financial assistance ranging from AUD 300,000 (US$192,071) to AUD 700,000 (US$448,167) on a competitive basis. They aim to support dynamic partnerships between Vietnamese and Australian organizations that are at the forefront of agricultural innovation.
In the previous four funding rounds, the Aus4Innovation Partnership Grants supported 15 projects—12 of which have been completed and 3 are ongoing—delivering practical results and innovative solutions for social progress in agricultural practices.
Australia's Ambassador to Viet Nam, H.E. Gillian Bird, reaffirmed Australia's commitment to supporting Viet Nam's economic growth, noting that innovation in agriculture is a vital part of this effort.
"Through these grants, we aim to advance Viet Nam's agricultural sector by addressing the pressing challenges of climate change and supporting sustainable and inclusive development," Ambassador Bird said.
Aus4Innovation is a ten-year (2018–2028), AUD 33.5 million (US$21.45 million) flagship program aimed at strengthening Viet Nam's innovation system to support inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development. The program is funded by Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), co-funded and managed by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), and delivered in strategic partnership with Viet Nam's Ministry of Science and Technology./.
