At least 13 people missing after bridge collapse in Phu Tho province

VGP – Dosens of people fell into river after Phong Chau bridge suddenly collaped in the northern province of Phu Tho on Monday morning.

The middle part of Phong Chau bridge in Pho Tho province falls to the Red River at 10 a.m. on September 9, 2024

Half of the bridge spanning the Red River collapsed at 10 a.m, sending six cars and five motorbikes into the river below and cutting off connection between Lam Thao and Tam Nong districts.

Upon learning the incident, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh tasked Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc to arrive in Phu Tho province to direct the rescue work.

The first three victims have been rescued while at least 13 others are still missing, reported Vnexpress.

The bridge was inaugurated in 1995. Vehicles with weight of 18 tons and above have not been allowed to go onto the bridge since September 2019./.
