He said ASEAN is the model of a regional organization for dialogue, cooperation and peaceful resolution of differences.

It is the spirit of family solidarity, community cohesion and close neighborliness, together with the solid foundation of diaologue, diplomacy and respect for international law, that has made ASEAN successful over the past decades, stressed Bui.

These achievements need to continue to be strongly promoted, especially in the process of realizing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, he added.

Bui called on ASEAN to continue consolidating resilience and strategic autonomy while proactively promoting relations with its partners, thus contributing to maintaining strategic balance in the region and to enhancing cooperation in response to shared challenges.

ASEAN also needs to promote its central role in shaping and leading regional processes, improving the effectiveness of the existing mechanisms, said the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

He promised that Viet Nam will continue to actively contribute to the efforts to build consensus and a common vice of ASEAN on regional and international issues.

On Myanmar issue, Viet Nam stands ready to join the process of recovery and reconstruction in Myanmar, Bui said, calling for a new approach to this issue.

Regarding the East Sea issue, Bui expressed concern over the recent developments, emphasizing that ASEAN needs to remain steadfast to its principled position, uphold international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), promote dialogue, trust building, and peaceful resolution of disputes.

Viet Nam commits to continuing coordination with other countries to fully and effectively implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and promptly formulate a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) that is effective and substantive in line with international law and the UNCLOS 1982./.
