The announcement ceremony was held last week at  the EXPO City Osaka complex.

The event drew the attendance of Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka Tran Duc Binh; Acecook’s President Muraoka Hiroshi, President of the Anniversary Association Kase Kiyoshi.

Mr. Binh highlighted the recognition in honour of “Pho” in Japan.

He said that the Day of “Pho” would give Japanese people a better understanding of Vietnamese cuisine and bring the two countries closer.

Muraoka Hiroshi, President of Acecook, a Japan-based instant noodle producer, said the company has produced instant “pho” noodle and made it available at convenience stores in Japan.

It is the first time Vietnamese traditional “pho” has a day to be internationally celebrated.

The April 4 was chosen as in English, “4” is pronounced similarly to “pho”.

Earlier, Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico held the Day of “Pho” to advertise the land, people, and culture of Viet Nam to international friends./.
