APEC needs to actively expand economic linkages for sustainable recovery

VGP – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc urged APEC to actively expand economic linkages for sustainable recovery and growth while upholding its leading role in shaping global economy in the post-pandemic period.

The Vietnamese President made the above statement while addressing the 28th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting held virtually on November 12.

Nguyen said APEC needs to continue affirming its role as a driving force of the global economy and hub of innovative ideas and taking the lead in building an Asia-Pacific model of green and inclusive growth to realise the Putrajaya Vision 2040, the President said.

He affirmed Viet Nam will continue partnering with APEC member economies to materialize the vision of a open, peaceful, dynamic, and resilent Asia-Pacific for the benefits of each citizens and future generations.

The leaders to the meeting reaffirmed their commitments to maintaining and strengthening the role of APEC as a premier forum on economic cooperation and connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region.

They voiced support for global efforts in ensuring equitable access to vaccines, expanding vaccine production and supply, and enhancing the capacity of healthcare systems.

The leaders also affirmed their resolve to foster sustainable and inclusive growth, cope with climate change, and ensure social security and opportunities for all, especially women and other vulnerable groups.

The leaders adopted a joint statement and Aotearoa Plan of Action to implement the Putrajaya Vision 2040.

New Zealand cũng bàn giao vai trò Chủ tịch năm APEC 2022 cho Thái Lan.

Also at the event, New Zealand handed over the chairmanship of APEC Year 2022 to Thailand./.
