An evidence of Viet Nam's support for multilateralism

Vietnamese Ambassador to the U.S. Nguyen Quoc Dung made the above statement in a recent interview ahead of State President Luong's working visit to the U.S. from September 21-24.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the UN, an important milestone for the world's largest multilateral organization, said the Ambassador, adding that it is also an opportunity for Viet Nam to affirm its role as an active and responsible member of the international community, express its views and share development experiences, and contribute practical initiatives and solutions to global issues such as peace, stability, sustainable development, and climate change response.
In the U.S., the Vietnamese leader will join a number of bilateral activities in the fields of politics, economy, technology, culture, and people-to-people exchanges on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations and two years of establishing the Viet Nam–U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
According to the diplomat, the upgrade of the bilateral ties has created momentum and a framework to achieve positive outcomes, as reflected via exchanges at all levels, especially high-level contacts.
In the past few months, there have been four phone conversations between General Secretary To Lam and President Donald Trump. These high-level contacts lay the foundation and set the direction for the development of bilateral relations across various fields.
In the time ahead, there are ample rooms for strong growth in economics, trade, and science and technology, said the Ambassador, adding that Viet Nam has the opportunity to become a reliable partner in global value chains, particularly in the fields of technology, clean energy, and sustainable development.
Culture and tourism are also areas with great potential, noted the diplomat. The Southeast Asian nation is promoting the development of the creative industries, and learning from U.S. experience will have a positive impact on this aspect of development.
In the areas of education and training, Viet Nam needs to develop high-quality human resources. The U.S.' experience and advanced educational practices will help improve the quality of education for Vietnamese students and contribute to strengthening mutual understanding./.
