Agro-forestry-fishery export turnover surges sharply in Q1

VGP - Export turnover of agro-forestryf-fishery products was estimated at US$13.53 billion in the first three months of this year, a year-on-year increase 21.8 percent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Of the above figure, export value of agricultural products grew by 31.1 percent to US$7.46 billion, forestry earned US$3.61 billion, up 18.8 percent, aquaculture US$1.86 billion, up 1.9 percent.

Four items pocketed over US$1 billion in export turnover each including furniture with US$2.32 billion (up 26.8 percent), fruits and vegetables with US$1.23 billion (up 25.8 percent), rice with US$1.37 billion (up 40 percent) and coffee with US$1.9 billion.

The ministry said there was a strong rise in export to major markets, including Asia with 16.6 percent, the US 27.2 percent, Europe 34.8 percent, Oceania 22.9 percent, and Africa 21.6 percent.

China, the U.S., and Japan remain the leading importers of Vietnamese agro-forestry-fisheries products, accounting for 20.2 percent, 19.9 percent, and 7 percent of Viet Nam’s total export volume./.
