The visit aims at strengthening the multifaceted ties between Viet Nam and Kazakhstan.

The two countries established diplomatic relations on June 29, 1992. Since then, both sides have maintained exchange of high-ranking delegations and bilateral meetings and supported each other at the United Nations and other international forums.

The bilateral economic-trade cooperation has also been progressing. Viet Nam’s key exports to Kazakhstan include phones and spare parts, computers, electronics, vegetables, cashew, nuts, pepper, and garments.

To boost economic, trade and technological cooperation, an Inter-governmental Committee was set up. At the Committee’s 5th meeting in Astana on September 16, 2011, both sides signed the Viet Nam-Kazakhstan Joint Action Plan for the 2011-2013 period.
