5th Asian Beach Games to take place in Da Nang

VGP – Nearly 45 countries have registered to participate in the 5th Asian Beach Games from September 24 - October 3 in the central city of Da Nang.

The organizing board said these countries are expected to send more than 2,200 athletes to the event.

The completed rules for the 22 sports at the tournament events have been finalized and are being distributed along with a tentative schedule of for the opening, flag hoisting, competitions and closing events.

With sports, including: Aquatics (Marathon Swimming and Water Polo); Beach Kabaddi; Beach Soccer; Beach Volleyball; Beach Handball; 3x3 Basketball; Beach Sepak takraw; Beach Martial Arts (Wrestling, Sambo, Jujitsu, Kurash, Pencak Silat, Vovinam, Muay Thai, Vietnamese Traditional Martial Arts); Beach Badminton; Beach Petanque; Beach Bodybuilding; Woodball; Rowing and Athletics, among the others.

Viet Nam security forces are  beefing up security for the main venues for the event, which are The East Sea Park, My Khe Beach, Phuong Trang Urban Beach and the Son Thuy Seaside Resort.

Initiated by the Olympic Council of Asia, the first Asian Beach Games took place in 2008 in Indonesia's Bali City and have been held every two years since.
