Madam Nguyen Thi Binh assessed that the signing of the Paris Peace Accord was a victory of the Vietnamese people's military, political and diplomatic resistance. At the same time, it was a victory of the world's movement in support of the Vietnamese people.

The heroic and resilient struggle of the Vietnamese people, received by the biggest international support that world has ever seen, has forced the U.S. government to negotiate and sign the Paris Peace Accord on ending the war and restoring peace in Viet Nam.

Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy in France in coordination with Verrières-le-Buisson city on the outskirts of Paris organised an event on January 14 to celebrate the signing of the Paris Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Viet Nam.

The nine-chapter, 23-article agreement was finally signed on January 27, 1973, after nearly five years of negotiations, with 201 public meetings, 45 high-level private meetings, 24 secret meetings, 500 press conferences, and 1,000 interviews, along with hundreds of demonstrations by international friends from all over the world against the war and in support of the Vietnamese people’s struggle for national independence./.
