1st VN Coffee Day held in Da Lat city

A ‘coffee space’ was arranged with around 30 pavilions, showcasing coffee and cocoa products from Central Highland and northern mountainous provinces as well as enterprises around the country.

In addition to displayed  coffee products, there are an international seminar on the new development period of Viet Nam's coffee industry, and fact-finding tours to coffee production and processing models using high technology in Lam Dong.

According to Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee Pham S, the development of the coffee sector has created jobs for thousands of local people in the Central Highland region.

With a motto of "productivity, quality, value added for coffee beans," numerous seminars were held during Vietnam Coffee Day to seek solutions for the sustainable development of the Vietnamese coffee sector in future.

At the event, the organising board presented commemorative medals to the processors and cooperatives for their significant contributions to the development of the coffee sector.

Viet Nam's central highlands region has over 450,000 hectares of coffee trees, accounting for over 90 percent of the country's total.

The country exported over 1.1 million tons of coffee worth more than US$2.5 billion in the first nine months of this year, down 20.5% in volume but up 1.3% in value against the same period last year, according to the country's Agriculture Ministry.

Dak Nong province will host the second Viet Nam coffee festival in 2018.
