14th Party Central Committee convenes first plenum to elect General Secretary
VGP - The 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam convened the first plenum on Friday morning to elect Politburo members and Party General Secretary.

The 200-member Central Committee will also elect members to the Secretariat and the Central Inspection Commission as well as the Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission.
On Thursday, the 14th National Party Congress elected 180 official members and 20 alternate members to the 14th Party Central Committee.
The 14th National Party Congress is expected to conclude on Friday afernoon, 1.5 days earlier than the previous schedue./.
