The channel, which broadcasts 24 hours a day, will update information on Việt Nam’s political, economic, social, cultural, scientific, and diplomatic panorama, said VNA General Director  Trần Mai Hưởng.

It will also provide the Party and State’s stance against distorted information and arguments that aim at undermining or sabotaging the country.

The channel’s debut marked a new development stage of the VNA as it set the target to become a mass media complex, with representative offices in nearly 30 countries in all five continents.

The programs will be broadcast on digital infrastructure of VCTV, HTV-BTS, HCTV, SCTV, Nacencom, VNPT-backed MyTV, and on the Internet at http://vnews.vnanet.vn.

VNEWS would help further disseminating the Party and State’s guidelines and the Government’s policies to the public, said PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng at the launching ceremony.

The Government chief took the occasion to appraise the local mass media’s role in establishing a close relationship between the Party and State and residents living both inside and outside the homeland.

The close relationship is a fundamental premise for the Party and State and citizens to achieve consensus to overcome differences for sustainable development, PM Dũng commented.

He urged the national new agency to take the lead in updating information in a precise and quick manner.
