The Microsoft Chairman praised the great socio-economic achievements made by Vietnam in nearly one year since his last visit on April 21, 2006.
He said that his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation focuses its support on health and global medicine-related issues, especially HIV/AIDS control and vaccination. The Foundation is now assisting vaccination programs in some developing countries and the productions of new vaccines. The guest revealed that, during this visit to Vietnam, he wanted to survey and help the country in community healthcare and immunization.
After visiting the Trung Màu Communal Clinic (Gia Lâm suburban district, Hanoi) and the Đông Anh District Hospital (Hanoi), Bill Gates spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government’s interest in community healthcare and vaccination.
His wife, Ms. Melinda Gates, was also greatly impressed by Vietnam’s community healthcare work. No country has ever made a deep impression on her in the community healthcare rather than Vietnam where 90% of children are vaccinated, she talked to PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng. She was convinced that new vaccines will be fruitfully used in Vietnam.
PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng showed his pleasure to meet the Microsoft Chairman and his wife, hailing their working visit to help Vietnamese children.
Vietnam always pays a special attention to community healthcare and immunization, especially among children, the PM said. He added that many vaccines have been introduced in Vietnam, including those against TB and hepatitis B.
PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng thanked Bill and Melinda Gates for their support to Vietnam. He asked the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to further help the country by introducing new good vaccines as well as boosting IT cooperation./.
