Addressing a reception for Egyptian Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mahmoud Hassan Nayel, in Ha Noi on December 13, Deputy PM Minh expressed delights at the two nations’ similar viewpoints in many international issues, while thanking Egypt for supporting Viet Nam’s bid to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in the 2020-2021 tenure.
Bilateral ties have grown positively over recent times, especially in 2017-2018 when leaders of the two countries exchanged mutual State visits, thus creating a foundation for the two sides to accelerate their relations, he stated.
The deputy PM asked for close coordination between Viet Nam and Egypt aiming to effectively implement the deals reached during the aforementioned high-level visits, contributing to realizing the goal of bringing two-way trade to US$1 billion in 2020.
The two sides are planning to organize a meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee in Viet Nam next year, he said, hailing this as a good chance for them to discuss specific measures to further enhance bilateral economic, trade and investment ties.
On the occasion, Deputy PM Minh extended his thanks and voiced his wish that Egypt would continue providing scholarships to Vietnamese students in the future.
For his part, the Egyptian diplomat emphasized Egypt treasures its friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam, while speaking highly of the Southeast Asian nation’s role, position and achievements in development and international integration.
He stated that the two sides have the potential to facilitate cooperation in the economy, trade and investment, as well as in education and training.
