PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the above statement at his meeting with Argentina’s President Mauricio Macri in Ha Noi on Wednesday.
The two-way trade between Viet Nam and Argentina has doubled, from US$1.4 billion in 2013 to nearly US$3 billion in 2018, according to Phuc.
He suggested the two sides should maintain delegation exchanges, increase cooperation initiatives, and continue negotiations to sign agreements on double taxation avoidance, security and defense in order to enrich the contents of their comprehensive partnership.
Phuc also asked both sides to support the settlement of disputes through peaceful measures in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Meanwhile, President Mauricio Macri hailed Viet Nam as one of the most dynamic countries in Asia, saying the Southeast Asian country is Argentina’s 5th biggest trade partner in the world and the 2nd in Asia.
The same day, top legislator Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also met with President Mauricio Macri who is on a three-day visit to Viet Nam.
Ngan believed that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies have been strengthened.
She extended thanks to Latin American country for supporting Viet Nam’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council in the tenure 2020-2021./.
