VN to have 13 dry ports by 2020

VGP – The Prime Minister has approved a development scheme for a dry port system in Việt Nam by 2020.

Accordingly, Việt Nam will be home to 13 dry ports which will be scattering nationwide.

The North will house five dry ports in the coastal economic region, the Hà Nội-Lào Cai economic corridor; the Hà Nội-Lạng Sơn economic corridor; the North West economic zone of Hà Nội; and the South East economic zone of Hà Nội.

Five dry ports will be located in the Central and Central Highlands regions including the Nghi Sơn economic zone; Road 8 and Road 12A economic corridor; Road 9 economic zone; the Đà Nẵng-Huế economic zone; and Road 19 economic corridor.

The South will have three dry ports in the North East economic zone; the South West economic zone of Hồ Chí Minh City; and the Mekong Delta economic zone.

Under the scheme, the dry port system will handle around 6 million TEU per year; the North, 1.2 million TEU; the Central region, 600,000 TEU and the South, 4.2 million TEU./.
