The Deputy PM made the affirmation on February 10 in Ha Noi while hosting a reception for Uzbekistan’s Deputy PM and  Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Mirzaev Zoyir.

The host leader said that the traditional ties have flourished positively. In 2017, the two countries will mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties. Last year, two-way trade turnover fetched US$ 37.4 million, nearly doubling 2012's figure.

However, exchanges of high-ranking visits remained irregular. Cooperation in advantageous areas failed to keep up with respective potentials and aspiration.

Mr. Dung proposed the two countries enhance contacts and bolster cooperation in economics, trade, investment, education, culture-society in line with respective potentials, advantages, and aspirations.

Viet Nam boasts experience of rice cultivation, aquaculture, industrial trees, garments, textiles, and leathers. The country stands ready to share experience with Uzbekistan, said Mr. Dung. He hoped that the Central Asian country would create favorable ways for Vietnamese investors to broaden the domestic market and support oil and gas exploitation.

The host leader also suggested the two countries hold cultural days, thus promoting tourism and open a direct air route.

Deputy PM Dung took the occasion to suggest Uzbekistan back the overseas Vietnamese community there.

For his part, Mr. Mirzaev Zoiyr revealed that he selected Viet Nam on his first overseas trip as the Deputy PM of Uzbekistan. In the history, Viet Nam was also the first country which recognized Uzbekistan’s independence.

“Uzbekistan considers Viet Nam as a strategic partner and hopes to beef up the cooperation in all fields,” the guest asserted.

He also applauded the aforesaid suggestions of his Vietnamese counterpart.

The guest leader took the occasion to learn about Viet Nam’s experience on SMEs development, business start-up; and seek investment opportunities in petroleum, tourism, and trade./.
