VN, South Africa talk Extradition Agreement

VGP – Viet Nam and South Africa started their first negotiation round for an Agreement on Extradition on October 24.

The Vietnamese delegation included representatives of the State President’s Office, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the Supreme People’s Court, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice.

Head of the Department of Legislation Nguyen Ngoc Anh, under the MPS, led the Vietnamese delegation.

Meanwhile, Vice Director of the International Affairs Department John Makhubela, under the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Development, was the head of the South African delegation.

In recent years, cooperation between Viet Nam and South Africa has gained a number of achievements in all fields and the two sides have boosted up cooperation in crime prevention and security protection.

The signing of an Agreement on Extradition will provide a legal foundation for crime prevention and effective cooperation between the two nations’ law enforcement agencies to maintain public order in their countries.
