VN, RoK hold first defense dialogue

Vietnamese and Korean delegations at the first defense dialogue

The event was co-chaired by Lieutenant General Nguyễn Chí Vịnh, Vietnamese Minister of Defense, and his Korean counterpart Lee Young-geol.

The two sides agreed that the bilateral ties are entering a new development chapter in all fields in which defense cooperation is moving in a positive and effective manner in line with the strategic partnership.

Via contacts, exchanges and the defense dialogues, the two countries have enriched mutual confidence and created a new momentum to beef up the cooperative linkages between the two armies.

They also agreed on a number of measures to speed up the defense cooperation especially in delegation exchanges, industry, training, and celebrations of 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the Việt Nam-RoK Friendship Year. 

The two sides talked about the implementation of multilateral defense cooperation which was reached at the first ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM ) plus in 2010.

The second defense dialogue is scheduled in 2013 in the RoK./.
