VN-RoK Economic Forum opens in HN

VGP – The Vietnamese and Korean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) on November 13 in Ha Noi convened the 2015 Viet Nam-RoK Economic Forum to beef up trade linkages and realize the Viet Nam-Korea Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA).

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai praised the fine bilateral ties especially in trade and investment.

The RoK was the largest investor in Viet Nam with over US$37.2 billion of registration capital in 4,110 projects. A large number of projects on key areas contributed to economic growth and restructuring in Viet Nam, said the Deputy PM.

Besides, the two-way trade turnover surged from US$28.8 billion in 2014 to US$27.3 billion in the first nine months of 2015 (or 30.2% increase year-on-year).

According to Mr. Hai, the VKFTA was expected to open up large business opportunities for the two sides particularly in infrastructure, agriculture, auxiliary industries, high-tech, and energy.  

The Vietnamese Government, said the Deputy PM, welcomes RoK investors to expand operations in Viet Nam especially the areas of agriculture, education, energy, environment, healthcare, processing industry, manufacturing, auxiliary industries in the PPP model.  

The 2015 Viet Nam-RoK Economic Forum was attended by 400 delegates including Government and ministerial leaders, economic experts, businessmen and press agencies.

The forum focused on infrastructure, energy, auxiliary industries, and agriculture./.
