Company chairman Van Thanh Liem said Saigon Binh Tay Beer JSC is producing five million liters of alcohol-free beer a year, and sells the drink under the Sagota brand name.

Alcohol-free beer is beer with no alcohol content, which aims to reproduce the taste of beer without the inebriating effects of standard alcoholic brews.

“Sagota is brewed in accordance with normal production steps like other beer products, except for the fact that alcohol is extracted from the beer,” Liem said.

The alcohol-free product is suitable to serve women, athletes, and drivers, he added.

The non-alcoholic beer is expected to contribute to reducing drunk-driving traffic accidents, the negative effects of alcohol to health and will hopefully spur domestic consumers to use domestic goods.
