He said the VNAT has worked on the Sea and island tourism development project for the 2011-2020 period to turn the idea into reality.
Under the Sea and island tourism development project in the 2011-2020 period, five sea tourism regions will be developed in Hạ Long-Cát Bà; Lăng Cô-Sơn Trà-Hội An; Nha Trang-Cam Ranh, Phan Thiết-Mũi Né, and Phú Quốc
The project specifies that the development of sea and island tourism must be coupled with ensuring national security and socio-economic growth.
The South Central Coast stretching from Đà Nẵng city to Bình Thuận province will enjoy the highest tourism growth rate in the coming time, said Associate Professor Phạm Trung Lương, the Vice Director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research.
Mr. Lương pointed out that, the Central Highlands, though boasting tourism potentials, would have the slowest tourism growth rate.
The Associate Professor also figured out the fact that climate change would challenge tourism development in Việt Nam in general and the Mekong Delta region in particular./.
