VN pledges to closely work with US in MIA issues

VNGOP – State President Nguyễn Minh Triết received on August 29 in Hà Nội a 5-member US Senate delegation headed by Senator Saxby Chambliss, member of the US Senate Armed Service Committee and the US Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

At the reception, the US Senators expressed their desire to increase the cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries. Senator Saxby Chambliss revealed that, in the next two months, the two sides will continue their collaboration in seeking for US soldiers regarded as Missing in Action (MIA) and wished that Việt Nam will support and assist the US.

State President Nguyễn Minh Triết emphasized that in the humane spirit Việt Nam will closely work with the US in dealing with MIA-related issues and share MIA information with the US. The state leader also asked the US help to seek for Vietnamese MIA soldiers.

The State President and the US Senators all agreed to close the past and look toward the future, promoting cooperation in all fields, especially economy, trade and investment.
