Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue held talks with Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria Ahmed Idris Wase, visited the headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and met with President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Jean-Claude Kassi Brou.
During these events, Deputy PM Hue briefed Nigerian leaders about the socio-economic developments of Viet Nam. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government attaches importance to the relations with Nigeria in particular and Africa in particular.
At the talks, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said that Nigeria always attaches importance to and is impressed of Viet Nam’s great achievements especially in agriculture, trade, industry, and services.
He added that in political and diplomatic fields, the two leaders were unanimous in boosting exchanges of delegations at all levels. Nigeria welcomes and stands ready to support Viet Nam to broaden ties with ECOWAS and AU members, Mr. Yemi Osinbajo said, proposing Viet Nam serve as a bridge for Nigeria expand ties with ASEAN member states.
The two sides took the occasion to discuss practical measures to boost trade activities in the coming time. They acknowledged the necessity to establish a favorable legal system for cooperative activities; boost exchanges of delegations.
Viet Nam hopes to boost trade volumes by increasing overseas shipment of cashew, aquaculture, rice, footwear, garments and textiles.
After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders.
During a working meeting with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria Ahmed Idris Wase, Deputy PM Hue affirmed that the relations with Nigeria in particular and other African countries play an important part in the Viet Nam’s foreign diplomatic policy.
Deputy Speaker Ahmed Idris Wase highly valued the potentials and cooperative achievements of the two countries especially in economics and trade.
The Deputy Speaker underlined that the Nigerian Congress hopes to cement and deepen ties with Viet Nam and sign cooperative documents which are expected to elevate trade cooperation.
On early October 31, Deputy PM Hue and his entourage left Nigeria, successfully wrapping the African tour./.
