VN, Myanmar parliaments coordinate closely at int’l forums

The NA chairwoman congratulated Myanmar on its significant achievements obtained in promoting national reconciliation, ensuring political security and stability, fostering economic development and expanding its external relations.

Myanmar hosting the 37th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-37) shows regional countries’ trust and high appreciation for its increasing international status, Ngan said, noting that Viet Nam is willing to coordinate to help Myanmar successfully fulfill its role as the 2017 chair of ASEAN.

The top legislator thanked for Myanmar’s support of Viet Nam during its past struggle for national liberation and reunification, affirming that Viet Nam always treasures and wishes to strengthen traditional friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation with Myanmar in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

For his part, Win Myint hailed the close and effective cooperation and coordination between the two parliaments at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums, particularly in the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the AIPA.

He expressed his belief that with its experience, the Vietnamese delegation would make significant contributions to AIPA-37 programmes as well as to the success of the general assembly.

Hailing the important of building the legal system, the chairman of the lower house of Myanmar’s parliament wished to work closely with the Vietnamese NA in the issue.

The Myanmar visit of Viet Nam’s high-level NA delegation aimed to implement the cooperation agreement between the two countries’ parliaments signed in July 2013 during the official visit to Myanmar made by Chairman of the 13th NA Nguyen Sinh Hung.
