Earlier, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết on December 6 signed an Order to announce the Resolution approving the Protocol on Vietnam’s accession to the WTO after it was ratified by the National Assembly on November 29.

The letter of notice was delivered to WTO General Council Chairman Eirik Glenne by the representative of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam’s Permanent Delegation to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva (Switzerland).

The WTO Secretariat will send a notice to Vietnam about the date the Protocol on WTO entry comes into effect. Normally, from the 30th day after the WTO Secretariat receives the letter of notice from Vietnam, the Protocol will become effective to make Vietnam a full WTO member with all due interests and obligations of fulfilling its commitments to the WTO.
