VN e-gov’t ready to enter new stage

VNGOP – According to the 5th Việt Nam e-Government Symposium held on December 05 in Hồ Chí Minh City, Việt Nam’s information technology jumped one step to the 65th rank among 69 countries in term of the e-Readiness EIU Index 2007.

The Government already approved the Strategy on Information Technology and Communications Development, focusing on the formation and development of e-citizen, e-government, e-enterprise, e-transaction and e-commerce.
According to Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyễn Minh Hồng, in its action program, the Government also asserted that one of the major duties is to modernize national administration, especially promoting the application of information technology in the performance of State administrative management agencies.
Under the theme "Việt Nam’s E-Government - Get ready for a new period", the symposium concentrated on four topics: Infrastructure Development for e-Government; Building database for e-Government;E-business as part of e-government; and Applying IT in transport management.
An exhibition with 28 stalls will run concurrently with the Symposium, showcasing the latest products, solutions, services and core technology for e-Government application by local and international vendors.
