VN confirms 18 new COVID-19 infection cases, total rises to 670

VGP – The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed 18 new COVID-19 infection cases this afternoon, raising the country's patient tally to to 670.

The latest patients include 17 linked to the Da Nang Hospital and the remainder returned from Equatorial Guinea.

Patient 653-668, aged from 8-93, are natives in the central city of Da Nang.  

They include eight people in contact with persons who were later confirmed positive for Covid-19, five family members of patients in Da Nang Hospital, a health worker at the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital, a patient in Da Nang Hospital and the remainder is the outpatient of the Family Hospital in Da Nang City.

Patient 669 is a 50-year old man, residing in Bien Hoa City, the southern province of Dong Nai.

He is the doctor of Dong Nai General Hospital. The patient visited a patient in Da Nang Hospital and had close contact with a previously-announced COVID-19 patient (patient 510).

He has been isolated and treated at Dong Nai Lung Hospital.

Patient 670 is a 50-year old man, residing in Thach Thanh, the central province of Thanh Hoa.

He joined the flight VN6 from Equatorial Guinea to Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi on July 29. The patient was sent for medical quarantine upon his arrival and has been treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Dong Anh District, Ha Noi.

Up to now, the flight has recorded 20 COVID-19 infection cases.

Since July 25, as many 222 COVID-19 community infection cases were announced.

At present, 133,279 people having close contact or entering from the pandemic-hit areas are under medical surveillance, of whom 1,258 at hospitals, 20,427 at centralized quarantine camps, and 111,594 at places of residence.

The same day, according to the Committee, four more COVID-19 patients have been cleared of the virus including patient 398 (a 25-year old man), patient 399 (a 25-year old man), patient 400 (a 25-year old man) and patient 401 (a 24-year old man).

All of them have been treated at Hoa Binh General Hospital. They will be isolated and medically monitored in the next 14 days.

378 among 670 COVID-19 infection cases in Viet Nam have been successfully treated, accounting for 56.4%.
