VN-China Cooperation Joint Steering Committee meets

VGP – The Việt Nam-China Joint Steering Committee on Cooperation convened its 5th session on Tuesday in Hà Nội.

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Thiện Nhân and Chinese State Councillor Dai Bingguo co-chaired the event which also saw the attendance of Vietnamese Ambassador to China Nguyễn Văn Thơ and Chinese Ambassador to Việt Nam Kong Xuanyou.

During the session, both sides looked at the bilateral cooperation over the past time and exchange ideas on directions and measures to strengthen the friendship and cooperation in all fields.

Both sides appreciated the role of the Việt Nam-China Joint Steering Committee on Cooperation since its establishment in 2006.

The two countries agreed to consolidate and perfect the Committee’s mechanism in the coming time.

The participants also exchanged views on border-related issues, including disputes in the East Sea.

Earlier on September 5 and this morning, preparatory meetings were held in a frank, friendly and constructive atmosphere.
