VN becomes largest peppercorn exporter

VGP - Viet Nam has exported 150,000 tons of peppercorns, earning an estimated sum of more than US$1 billion in 2014.

The information was released at the 42nd Global Pepper Conference, which is held in Ho Chi Minh City from October 27-30.

Viet Nam is the largest peppercorn exporter in the world, accounting for more than 30% of the global trade turnover.

Peppercorn is being cultivated at 28 provinces nationwide on a total area of more than 60,000 ha, mainly focusing on the Southeast and the Central Highlands.

Delegates at the conference discussed issues related to the sustainable development of peppercorn in Viet Nam.
