The event was organized to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Thailand diplomatic ties (August 6, 1976).

Thai Ambassador to Viet Nam Panyarak Poolthup highlighted the importance of cultural and artistic exchanges between the two nations, especially the puppet shows.

Opening the show, Vietnamese artists staged the performance themed ‘Homeland rhythm’ based on traditional rustic folk songs close to the daily life of Vietnamese farmers.

The show focused on rattan made puppets with familiar things in everyday life such as baskets, nets, brooms, and fans. With subtle and dexterous movements, the artists turned them into lively puppets with emotion.

Thai artists performed a show called the Lunar Eclipse, a lively tale based on Thailand’s ancient belief that a lunar eclipse was caused by a demon who swallowed the moon.
