The two Prime Ministers expressed their pleasure at the remarkable and comprehensive development across fields of the bilateral ties, particularly economic cooperation.
The network of Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) has become a symbol of successful economic cooperation between the two countries, noted the pair.
Singapore was the first country to establish a partnership in green and digital economy with Viet Nam on the occasion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Singapore in February 2023.
Prime Minister Pham reassured that Singapore remains one of Viet Nam's most important partners in the region and the world, pledging that the Government of Viet Nam will continue close coordination with the Singaporean Government to further deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries in a substantial and effective fashion, making it a role model in ASEAN.
He suggested the two countries strengthen cooperation in defense and security, finance, education and training, tourism and people-to-people exchanges in order to increase mutual understanding between the two nations.
Wong said Singapore will continue the exchange of delegations and contacts at all levels and maintain bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the annual meeting between the two Prime Ministers in a bid to enhance friendship and political trust between the two countries.
Singapore wishes to work with Viet Nam to effectively implement the connectivity framework agreement and the partnership on green and digital economy, particularly in clean energy and carbon credit, said Wong.
He promised to ask his Cabinet ministers to continue encouraging Singaporean businesses to expand investments in Viet Nam, with a focus on high-tech, digital economy, circular economy, clean energy, semiconductor and artificial intelligence domains.
Regarding regional cooperation, the two sides agreed to reinforce ASEAN solidarity and voiced support for Laos to successfully assume its role as ASEAN Chair 2024.
Both sides agreed on the need to pay due care to sustainable development in sub-regions, including Mekong Sub-region, thereby contributing to ASEAN resilience, prosperity and sustainable development in ASEAN.
On the occasion Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh kindly invited Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to pay an official visit to Viet Nam at a convenient time and the latter accepted the invitation with pleasure./.
