Vietnamese, Russian leaders exchange greetings

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Viet Nam from July 5-6 at the invitation of Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Russian foreign minister Lavrov said Russia always considers Viet Nam an important partner in the region and wishes to strengthen the cooperation with the country in the future.

Viet Nam and Russia established diplomatic ties in 1950. The two nations upgraded their relations to strategic partnership in 2001 and comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012.

The two countries adopted the Joint Statement on 2030 Vision for Development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and Viet Nam on occasion of Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc's official visit to Russia from November 29-December 2, 2021.

The bilateral trade value reached US$4.85 billion and US$7.1 billion in 2020 and 2021, up 9 percent and 25 percent, respectively.

Russian investors have poured over US$950 million in 151 projects in Viet Nam./.
