The State President was accompanied by Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Chairman of the President's Office Le Khanh Hai, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, and other senior officials.
This marks State President Luong's first multilateral foreign mission at the world's most prominent global forum, coinciding with the 80th founding anniversary of the United Nations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Luong's participation in the General Debate reflects the Party and State's commitment to multilateral cooperation and engagement with major UN agendas.
Over the past five decades, relations between Viet Nam and the UN have expanded steadily and substantively. The UN has supported Viet Nam in its post-war reconstruction, economic reform, and gradual integration into the international community.
During the UNGA-80 High-Level Week, Luong is expected to attend the commemorative meeting of the UN's 80th anniversary, deliver speeches at the General Debate and the Global Climate Action Summit, and reaffirm Viet Nam's role as a responsible member of the international community. His messages will highlight Viet Nam's active and substantive contributions to addressing global and regional challenges, particularly on climate change and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the UN General Debate, the State President will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of international organizations and foreign counterparts.
He will also attend a gathering with Vietnamese and American veterans, and meet with staff of Vietnamese representative offices and the Vietnamese community in the U.S.
In addition, State President Luong will preside over a ceremony in New York to mark the 80th National Day of Viet Nam./.
