Vietnamese passport’s ranking continues to rise
VGP - The Vietnamese passport has climbed six places to 84th in the global passport ranking Henley Passport Index 2026.
Currently, Vietnamese citizens can enter 48 destinations without a visa or by obtaining an e-visa, visa on arrival (VOA), or an electronic travel authorization (ETA) out of a total of 199 countries and territories.

The destinations that Vietnamese citizens can enter with only an e-visa include: Albania, Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Georgia, Guinea, India, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Moldova, Montserrat, Morocco, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, São Tomé and Príncipe, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria, The Bahamas, Togo, Turkey, Uganda, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Zimbabwe, St. Helena, and St. Kitts and Nevis.
The highest passport ranking Viet Nam has ever achieved in the 19-year history of the Henley Passport Index was 78th place, in 2006 and 2007.
Passport rankings reflect the global mobility of citizens and the openness of a country.
The Henley Passport Index evaluates passports based on the number of countries and territories that citizens can enter without obtaining a visa in advance, or where they only need an e-visa, visa on arrival, or an ETA.
The ranking is compiled using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), combined with analysis conducted by the research team at Henley & Partners./.
