Vietnamese Party chief witnesses signing of cooperation documents in Cambodia

VGP - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vie Nam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Hun Sen witnessed the signing and exchange of cooperation documents between Vietnamese and Cambodian ministries, agencies and localities in Phnom Penh on February 6.

General Secretary To Lam and CPP President Hun Sen witness the exchange of the 2026 cooperation plan between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cambodian Ministry of Interior.

The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and a high-ranking delegation of Viet Nam.

The leaders witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Party Committee of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the CPP Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations for the 2026–2030 period.

An additional 11 documents were exchanges, including the 2026 cooperation plan between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Cambodian Ministry of Interior; a cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs and the Cambodian Ministry of Cults and Religion; and a series of cooperation pacts between Viet Nam's Tay Ninh province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng and Tbong Khmum provinces; and between Viet Nam's Dong Nai province and Cambodia's Kratie, Mondulkiri, Tbong Khmum, Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom and Stung Treng provinces.

The ongoing state visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese delegation is expected to create a turning point, opening a new phase in bilateral relations marked by higher political trust, broader and deeper cooperation, and closer connectivity.

It is also hoped to create opportunities for closer and more substantive linkages in the fields of economy, trade and investment, thereby generating interwoven strategic interests in such key fields as trade, investment, supply chains, agriculture, processing industry, infrastructure, energy and transport./.
