Vietnamese longans make debut in Thai supermarkets

The longans originated from the Mekong delta city of Can Tho fully meets GlobalGAP standards, along with the various requirements for export to the Thai market.

The juicy fruit is priced at THB518 per kg, equivalent to around VND350,000 per kg.

To mark its debut, the longan is on special, with one kilogram now costing just VND230,000 in Thai supermarkets.

Longans are in harvest season until late August.

So far, Vietnamese longans have been exported to China, Australia, the U.S., Singapore, the RoK, Malaysia, Japan, Europe.

The Vietnamese longan export turnover in 2021 reached US$23.3 million but fell to US$13.9 million in 2022.

In 2023, longan output is estimated at 110,000 tons./.
