Vietnamese library opens in Laos

VGP- The General Association of Vietnamese in Laos (GAVL) has inaugurated a library at its headquarters in Vientiane with nearly 1,000 books.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, GAVL Chairman Nguyen Duy Trung said the association has urged individuals and organisations to present books to the library, which will help young generations improve their Vietnamese language skills. 

Only one month after launching the library, the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese has already received nearly 1,000 books with a variety of themes, mainly on two contries relations; culture and history of countries and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, Minister Counsellor Bui Duy Hai appreciated the initiative of the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Laos.

He stressed that although the number and categories of books are modest, it showed an effort of the Executive Board of the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese as well as of all people in building a library to meet the needs of the community to read and gain knowledge.

Most of books in the library feature Viet Nam-Laos ties, and the culture and history of the two countries. 

After the opening ceremony of the library, the Headquarters of the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese will always be open from Monday to Saturday to receive overseas Vietnamese to read books, play chess and conduct cultural exchanges.
