Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodian Prime Ministers meet on sidelines of ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit

The leaders were there to attend the ASEAN-Japan 50th Year Commemorative Summit at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

At the meeting, the three Prime Ministers reaffirmed their resolve to ceaselessly promote the bonds among the three neighboring countries.

They pledged to continue fostering the solidarity in ensuring security and advancing development in each country, regularly maintain contacts and meetings at all levels and channels, effectively implement cooperation agreements and mechanisms, and foster collaboration between ministries and agencies.

The leaders also agreed to continue support and assistance for each other in building independent economies and promoting international integration.

The leaders agreed to continue facilitating trade and investment, stepping up infrastructure connectivity, opening new flights, and actively realizing the action plan on economic connectivity through 2030.

Comparing notes on regional and international issues of shared concerns, they agreed to coordinate in maintaining ASEAN's solidarity, common positions, and central role in regional issues.

Prime Minister Pham reiterated full support for Laos to successfully undertake the role as the ASEAN Chair next year.

The Lao Prime Minister expressed thanks to Viet Nam and Thailand for active cooperation with his country, informing that the ASEAN's 2024 agenda will focus on regional connectivity and resilience./.
