During his stay, Bui held talks with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock, paid a courtesy calls on President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the German Federal Council Bodo Ramelow, and met with Minister-President of Hesse Boris Rhein and State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Michael Kellner.
At these meetings, Bui affirmed Viet Nam always attaches importance to the strategic partnership with Germany and thanked the Government and people of Germany for donating a great deal of vaccines and medical equipment to help Viet Nam fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, German officials reiterated that Viet Nam is one of Germany's major partners in Southeast Asia and Asia-Pacific, expressing their pleasure at the positive growth of the relationship between the two countries.
Minister Bui asked the German side to soon complete the ratification of the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection and support the European Commission's removal of yellow card imposed on Vietnamese seafood.
Both sides agreed to steep up cooperation in new areas like climate change and renewable energy in a bid to further deepen the contents of the two countries' strategic partnership.
The two sides also compared notes on several regional and international issues of shared interest and pledged to continue effective coordination and support each other at multilateral forums and organizations.
On the East Sea issue, both sides underscored the need to ensure peace, stability, security, cooperation and development in the region and advocate the settlement of divergences through peaceful measures in line with international law and the United Nations Charter, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982)./.
