The association is led by a temporary seven-member board. Doctor Hoang Hoa, Director of Clinic 215 Phnom Penh, is the Head of the Provisional Executive Committee.

The association aims to connect Vietnamese doctors in Cambodia and provide free medical services and humanitarian aid to Vietnamese expatriates in the country.

The board will design the group’s working plan, recruit members, and hold its first congress to elect an executive board.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hoa said Vietnamese doctors in Cambodia have annually met up to exchange experiences, but the activities were small scale and had yet to tap the group’s full potential in supporting the community.

She pledged to quickly structure the organisation and to support Vietnamese expatriates in Cambodia.

Head of GAVC, Mr. Chau Van Chi said that the Vietnamese Physicians Association in Cambodia not only connects Vietnamese physicians, but it is also voluntary organization for overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia, organized free communication on common healthcare; examination, vaccination and medicine distribution for overseas Vietnamese in difficult circumstances.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Thach Du welcomed the establishment of the association and believed that the Provisional Executive Committee would soon carry out activities to serve and support the community, upholding the traditional medical ethics of Vietnamese physicians and working in accordance with law of Cambodia.
