Viet Nam willing to foster cooperation between Russia, ASEAN: NA Chairman
VGP - Viet Nam stands ready to play a bridging role in fostering cooperation between Russia and other ASEAN Member States, said National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue during his reception for First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Federal Assembly of Russia Andrey Yatskin in Ha Noi on Friday.

This is the first delegation exchange between the two nations' parliaments since the outbreaks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vuong emphasized the significance of the Russian legislator's visit to Viet Nam which took place on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.
Russia is a top priority and most crucial partner in Viet Nam's foreign policy, reiterated the NA Chairman.
The Vietnamese NA expects to continue strengthening substantive and effective cooperation with Russia across all sectors for the sakes of the two nations and for peace, stability and development in the region and the world, he added.
Vuong hailed both sides maintaining exchanges and mutual support at multi-lateral mechanisms, expressing thanks to Russia for backing Viet Nam on its candidacy for a seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council in the term 2023-2025.
Viet Nam advocates Russia to play an active and constructive role in the region and the world, he emphasized.
He suggested both countries accelerate bilateral cooperation in petrol and energy, affirming that Viet Nam welcomes oil and gas companies from Russia to take part in offshore wind and gas power projects in Viet Nam.
The host expressed his hope that the two nations will continue enhancing collaboration in science-technology, especially in marine scientific research.
Both legislators vowed to promote economic, trade and investment ties in a more practical and effective manner, focusing on agro-aquatic-forestry sector.
The two countries should resume flights in the post-COVID-19 period to boost tourism, people-to-people exchanges and economic cooperation to meet the demands of their businesses and peoples, they noted.
