Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang
Pham made the above remarks on Thursday at the ministry's press briefing in response to a question about Viet Nam-related assessments in the U.S. Department of State's 2026 Trafficking in Persons Report which was released on October 9.
Viet Nam has intensified efforts to prevent and combat human trafficking, particularly through the adoption and implementation of its 2026–2030 program on human trafficking prevention and control, with a vision to 2035, she said.
The effective and coordinated implementation of the 2024 Law on Human Trafficking Prevention and Combat has been accompanied by stronger efforts to investigate, prosecute and adjudicate trafficking cases, alongside measures to identify and assist victims.
Public awareness campaigns have also been stepped up, particularly in response to increasingly complex trafficking activities associated with online scam centers, the Spokesperson noted.
Viet Nam has also issued a plan to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) for the 2026–2035 period. The plan seeks to address emerging migration challenges and prevent human trafficking risks linked to international migration, she said.
The Spokesperson affirmed that Viet Nam will continue to work closely with other countries, including the U.S., while strengthening exchanges and dialogue to foster a more comprehensive and positive assessment of its efforts and achievements in combating human trafficking, in the spirit of the Viet Nam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership./.
