The 4th Viet Nam-U.S. Energy Security Dialogue takes place in Washington D.C., the U.S. from July 27-28, 2022

The event was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Energy Resources in the U.S. Department of State Harry Kamian.

At the event, both sides presented key issues in the bilateral energy cooperation including clean electricity production, power market development, energy saving and efficiency and energy transmission and storage.

Clean energy such as hydrogen, storage batteries and nuclear energy as well as urgent plans to promote energy transition to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 were also discussed.

Within the framework of the dialogue, the AES Corporation handed a letter of intent to the Vietnamese delegation, hoping to deploy an offshore wind power project in Binh Thuan province with a total cost of US$13 billion and an expected capacity of 4,000 MW.

The corporation hoped that the project will help the Southeast Asian nation to realize its commitments at the COP26.

Besides, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) announced a technical assistance package for the Viet Nam Electricity National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT) to accelerate the deployment of smart grid technologies under the the 2.0 Information Technology Roadmap of the Viet Nam Electricity (EVN).
