Viet Nam to start construction of North-South high-speed railway next year

VGP – Viet Nam targets to begin construction of the North-South high-speed railway in December next year, according to the Ministry of Construction.

The North-South high-speed railway has the total length of around 1,541km, starting at Ngoc Hoi station in Ha Noi, running through 15 cities and provinces, and ending at Ho Chi Minh City's Thu Thiem station.

The railway, with a designed speed of 350km per hour, has total investment capital of US$67.34 billion

Once completed, the railway will reduce travel time from Ha Noi capital to Ho Chi Minh City – the country's largest economic engine, to about 5.5 hours./.
