The agreement was reached during their meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on December 7 on the occasion of the top Vietnamese legislator's ongoing official visit to Thailand.
This strategy aims to form new supply chains to produce high-value-added products, particularly in agriculture, contributing to food security in the region; connecting businesses and localities of the two countries, enhancing transportation links, and effectively cooperating in digital transformation in a safe and efficient manner and in the building of a green economy.
The two parliamentary leaders were pleasured to witness the robust development of the Viet Nam-Thailand bilateral strategic partnership in all areas.
In ASEAN, Thailand remains Viet Nam's largest trade partner, with the two-way trade rising to a record of nearly US$22 billion last year. Thailand is the second largest investor in Viet Nam with total registered capital of around US$14 billion.
The two leaders reiterated their determination to raise the two-way trade to US$25 billion in a more balanced manner by reducing trade barriers and creating a favorable environment for businesses from both countries to expand their operations.
The two sides agreed to beef up cooperation in other important areas such as national defence-security, maritime affairs, education-training, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange.
They also looked to expand programs teaching Thai and Vietnamese languages in each country and develop a "Two Countries, One Destination" tourism project.
On the occasion, the two legislators signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Thai House of Representatives.
