Viet Nam, Thailand strive to realize trade goal of US$25 billion

VGP – Viet Nam and Thailand have agreed to double efforts to soon realize the trade goal of US$25 billion through further facilitation of goods flows.

The agreement was reached by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Thai counterpart Srettha Thavisin at their meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN-Japan 50th Year Commemorative Summit in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday.

Both sides also agreed to push forward cooperation in digital transformation, green conversion and circular economy while strengthening cooperation in defesen, security, and transnational crime combat.

Prime Minister Pham suggested Thailand share experience in tourism development with Viet Nam.

The Thai Prime Minister said he will pay an official visit to Viet Nam to co-chair the fourth Joint Cabinet Meeting in 2024.

The two pair agreed on the need to strengthen ASEAN's solidarity and unity as well as Mekong Sub-region cooperation, support ASEAN's common positions on the East Sea issue, and other regional and international issues of shared concerns.

Thailand is the biggest ASEAN trade partner and the 9th largest investor in Viet Nam.
