Viet Nam sends over 132,000 workers abroad in 10 months

VGP - Viet Nam sent 132,645 workers abroad to work under contract over the last 10 months of 2023, reaching 120 percent of the target set for the whole year.

Of the figure, 44,669 were female, according to the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

During the reviewed period, Japan remained the leading importer of Vietnamese manpower with 67,550 workers. 

It was followed by Taiwan with 50,862 employees, the Republic of Korea with 5,973, and China 1,669.

Over one million Vietnamese have gone abroad to work since 2012, bringing home around US$10 billion each year, the Government reported.

The number of guest workers increased by 7-10 percent annually, and a worker earns VND200 million (US$8,541) a year on average, according to a report by the Central Economic Committee.

There are now 451 organizations and companies providing foreign labor services, doubling that of 2012, said the Committee.

Vietnamese people have been working in 25 countries and territories, compared to nine in 2013, it added./.
